Lately I've been having to remind myself to be better with.... life.  Being nicer, more patient, having an open heart and mind, stuff like that.  So for my benefit (and hopefully for yours too) I made a list of things I've been trying to remember to do every day.  It's a hefty list, but it's sure to help!

Patience IS a Virtue.  Patience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.  I feel like patience is also a form of trust.  You're trusting that things will be accomplished or will come about in their own due time, and you're willing to wait for that.  Our willingness to wait reveals the value we have on what we're waiting for.  Heavenly Father is always patient with us, that's how valuable we are to him.  To be patient means we are that much closer to Heavenly Father and shows we love Him that much more.

Be Quick to Repent.  Repentance is such a necessary tool in overcoming our daily shortcomings.  To repent means to change the direction of our life.  If you know there are things you're falling short of or mistakes you've made, make an effort to fix them.  Even if you just start out with the desire to be a better person, that makes all the difference!  "Repentance is NOT punishment.  It is the HOPE filled path to a Glorious future." -Elder Richard G. Scott.  Mistakes are always forgivable, especially with the help of Heavenly Father and the one who died specifically for those shortcomings -hint: Jesus Christ.  Seriously, I could go on and on about Repentance, but instead I'll just throw in another quote.  "Repentance is a divine gift, and there should be a smile on our faces when we speak of it.  It points us to freedom, confidence, and peace." -Elder D. Todd Christofferson

Be Quick to Forgive.  Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude.  It makes sense to forgive the inexcusable in others because God has forgiven the inexcusable in us.  Without forgiveness there is no way we can move forward in life.  Forgive and let go. Your life will be simpler, happier, and you won't feel weighted down from all the mean dumb-dumbs in your life.  Being angry at someone only hurts you.  Let go of your anger, not for the other person, but for yourself.  Remember that forgiving doesn't mean forgetting.  Forgiveness is giving up the right to hurt someone for hurting you.  Forgiveness is the final act of love.

Be Slow to Judge.  People nowadays are normally very quick to judge but slow to correct themselves.  I am guilty of this and I always feel bad afterwards.  I would think things like "Ew what are they wearing??" and then remember that I'm supposed to be positive and Christ-like and I think "No they can wear what they want.  If they're comfortable and happy, then that's all that matters."  The first thought that goes through your mind is what you have been conditioned to think, and what you think next defines who you are.  Much like forgiveness, if you let go of any uninformed judgments, life will be easier and you'll be able to focus on what's really important.

PRAY.  Life is full of trials, obstacles, and hardships, right?  Not to brag or anything, but I've always been able to overcome them.  My secret is simple. I pray.  Every prayer is a powerful weapon;  even the smallest and simplest ones are heard.  I know it's difficult to do sometimes, but that's when you need it the most. "Because He respects your agency, Father in Heaven will never force you to pray to Him.  But as you exercise that agency and include Him in every aspect of your daily life, your heart will begin to fill with peace, buoyant peace." -Richard G. Scott

"Be Thou Humble."  Being humble means showing a modest estimate of one's worth.  This doesn't mean that you're not important, you are!  It just means that no matter how much or how often you succeed, you don't let it get to your head.  Being successful is a blessing and you should recognize it as one.  But you shouldn't think that you're untouchable or better than others.  Just do your best with what you have and to have a realistic view of yours and everyone else's worth.

Count Your Blessings.  No, we don't always get what we want.  But consider this: there are people who will never have what you have right now.  You're so lucky and so blessed with everything and everyone in your life.  'Nuff said.

Quit Ya Worrying..
"Worry pretends to be necessary, but serves no useful purpose." -Eckhart Tolle.  Heavenly Father already has your whole life planned out for you (in a way).  He knows what's best for you and He wants nothing but for you to be happy.  Trust in Him and His plan, and everything will work out for the best.

Charlton Heston It Up!
If you're confused by this, have no fear, the Ten Commandments are here!  I know they're ancient, but they were given to us for a reason and still apply today.  You can learn more about the Ten Commandments and their purpose here!

Just Do It!  I'm so sorry, I just had to include this..  This is how you tackle procrastination.  If you want to get something done or improve on something, you just need to do it.  You'll feel more motivated and in charge of your life!

I really do try my best to remember these throughout my day.  I had the desire to live a happier life, and because of that, and the effort I put in, I have seen so many blessings come of it!  Keep it up, keep striving for the best and striving to be the best!
